GeoAlberta 2013: Where GEO Matters - Valtus, Silver Sponsor
September 23-25, 2013 Edmonton, AB
In September 2013, hundreds of Geomatics professionals will gather in Edmonton to network, share, and learn! There are many ways to participate: Present a paper, conduct a workshop, exhibit at the tradeshow, sponsor, submit a map/app, volunteer, or simply attend!
Don’t miss out on the exciting theme for GeoAlberta 2013:
Geomatics: The art, science, and technologies that use an integrated approach of measurement, analysis, management, storage and display of the descriptions and location of Earth-based data. Who are the professionals and what disciplines describe the profession?
Historically the term was developed to include Surveying, Remote Sensing, Cartography, & GIS (Geographic Information Systems). Today however, Geomatics is a rapid growth industry with strong influences from advancing and emerging technologies, allowing for increased use of Geomatics related data and infrastructure by many outside the Geomatics Community.
One thing remains constant amongst all Geomatics professionals and disciplines that measure it, map it, photograph and analyze it – The Earth. This could be the reason that “Geo” meaning “The Earth” is the beginning of Geomatics. GeoAlberta 2013 will focus on “Where Geo Matters” to showcase current technology, trends, and exchange commonalities within our industries and the planet we share.

April 23 - 27, 2012 Kansas City, MO
The 2012 Symposium will be held at the Westin Crown Center April 22 - 26, 2012 in Kansas City, Missouri.
GIS covers such a broad range of subjects, applications and types of people that use it, that developing a conference program that meets everyone's needs is a challenging task. Even more challenging is an attendee trying to figure out exactly which sessions or topics will be most interesting and helpful. MAGIC 2012 is intended to focus the content of the presentation options into a program specifically geared to each attendee's needs.
We are working hard to bring you educational sessions that provide the answers and knowledge that you can use today. Sessions will be categorized into:
- Safe and Healthy: Using GIS in the public safety and health industries
- Public Face of GIS: Moving GIS to the web and out to the public for mass consumption
- Smart Growth: Managing the growth of communities with GIS
- GIS Behind the Scenes: How to manage a GIS program, educate and retain staff, communicate the GIS language to non-GISers
- Technologies and Trends: Discover the latest technologies and see what is on the horizon
